This post, PinArtwork SEO 5 Best ways to promote your Blog comes to you from PinArtwork SEO and instructs you with the five best ways for you to self promote your blog. When I first started blogging I wrote a post in August 2020 called How to generate a marketing plan for your blog. This is a major update to that post because now I’ve nearly amassed almost two years of blogging under my belt (it’ll actually be two years in July 2022).
This post contains affiliate links, I’ll make a commission at no extra cost to you
should you click through and make a purchase.
In that post, I “briefly” mentioned that you should have a marketing plan to promote your blog but didn’t provide a lot of details.
Welcome to PinArtwork SEO, home of the Ultimate SEO Roadmap to Learning SEO (USRTLS). If you want to learn about SEO, the USRTLS provides you with the framework that you’ll need to develop your SEO Strategy. The SEO Roadmap provides you with the essentials of what and why you need to do SEO, but it comes to how you’re going to use that information to develop your own SEO strategy as you move forward with your blog to bring it’s traffic.
To be honest with you most of the emphasis in that post was centralized around Pinterest with not too much attention to the other elements that are needed for an effective marketing plan.
At PinArtwork SEO, it’s my goal that you’ll be able to learn about the many aspects of blogging that will help to grow your blog. For your information, when I first started blogging most of my content was focused on Pinterest. For nearly the 1st year of my blogging I knew the basics of SEO but didn’t know the advanced methods of SEO that result in bringing traffic to your blog which came about after I discovered Rank Math SEO and using Holisitic SEO.
One of the best things you can do if it you want to promote your blog and get #1 Google ranking is to use the Rank Math SEO plug-in. It makes that much of a difference because you’re learning about the importance of using keywords properly throughout your post to promote SEO for your blog.
So before I get too caught up with rambling about my favorite topic of search engine optimization (SEO), let me remind you of the five elements of a marketing plan for your blog.
PinArtwork SEO 5 best ways to promote your blog
At this point I wanted to let you know a little about PinArtwork SEO. The name of my blog PinArtwork SEO comes from the combination of three ways that I personally promote my website through the use of 1) Pinterest, 2) creating great content (artwork, images, and Pinterest pins), and 3) using Holistic SEO on an on-going continual basis.
The five (5) best ways to promote your blog and promote it are:
- Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
- Pinterest (Share, share, share). Did I forget to mention share?
- E-mail Marketing (ConvertKit, Constant Contact, or OptinMonster)
- Blog (more specifically, creating blog traffic) – See 30 Awesome and easy ways to get eyes on your blog and inspire 1,000 monthly page views).
- Using Holistic Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Now, let’s cover each one of these ways for you to promote your blog beginning with social media.
1. Social Media: What you should do is to pick one social media that you’re comfortable with and master that platform. The one that I personally use is Facebook. Pro-Tip: You have to be careful that when you’re using Facebook that you read over the rules of the Facebook Group (that you want to join). Usually the rules right are located at the top of the Facebook Group.
Because as much as you want to promote your blog, some Facebook Groups don’t want you to promote other blogs and are too caught up with that they only want to promote their blog and they frown upon people that self-promote their blog. By self promote your blog can mean many different things and I can’t cover all of the instances but what it boils down to is that you’re leaving links to your own website, or over-mentioning your blog in the Facebook posts. So tread lightly in these waters and use Facebook sparingly in those types of Facebook Groups that don’t allow self-promotion.
Note: Be careful of self-promoting your blog on Facebook Groups. Be active in group discussions. It “might” be acceptable to use your name and your blog in a comment (i.e., Scott | PinArtwork). But as I mentioned don’t draw links to your blog “unless” it’s allowed (i.e. Pinterest or Facebook threads). In some threads they encourage you to provide your links.
2. My next favorite way to promote your blog is via way of Pinterest. Pinterest has tremendously changed their platform and the traffic that people used to get doesn’t exist anymore. The reason behind this is that Pinterest has cracked down and let people know that they want fresh pins and don’t want duplicate pins anymore.
Creating duplicate pins can get you suspended on Pinterest. The best thing you can do with Pinterest is to regularly create fresh new pins and pin to the most relevant board. You can update your old posts by providing new pins to promote an old post and bring it new life. As a general rule of thumb, you should have amass a total of at least 10 pins for every post that you have. And then you can spread those pins out on Pinterest and create extra ones if you’d like.
Tailwind used to be a good way to promote Pinterest. However, as I’ve mentioned Pinterest doesn’t like duplicate content so I’ve steered away from using Tailwind and my efforts are more focused on creating fresh new Pinterest pins rather than re-pinning pins that someone else made and point to their website.
I don’t have any stats to back this up but I’m pretty sure the Pinterest algorithm favors pins that point to your website rather than another site.
E-mail Funnel sequence
3. Create an e-mail funnel sequence. This is something that I have yet to do. I’m waiting for my e-mail subscribers to get closer to 1,000 before I start developing an automated e-mail welcome sequence. It’s not that expensive to use ConvertKit’s Creator Plan that is $25/mo..
The free plan is free until you get 1,000 e-mail subscribers. For more information about using an e-mail funnel sequence, please read Learning the secrets of blogging success by using funnels. Within this post, I’ve provided an e-mail welcome sequence that I plan to use once it’s developed and you can tailor it to your own blog if you’d like.
4. Blog: This is where you create new content for your blog and add new images that may appeal to people that persuade them to click on your pin and bring them to your site. Adding images to your site is one of the main things that brings constant traffic to my blog and allows it to continually grow.
5. Use SEO tools to optimize your blog posts:
The four “principal” SEO tools that I use to promote my blog are:
a. Rank Math SEO plug-in: One of the best strategic moves you can make for your blog is to make a switch from the SEO plug-in that you’re using over to Rank Math SEO. Rank Math SEO differs from the competitors because it causes you to focus on building your blog posts with the use of keywords. With the exception of Facebook all of the other elements that I’ve highlighted are pretty good to self promote your blog. But the one with the biggest advantage that will help your blog the most is learning how to use SEO. If you’re not familiar with SEO I invite you to look at some SEO improvement posts.
Rank Math allows you very easily to look at your posts and grade them on a scale from zero (0) to a 100. A close competitor (Yoast SEO plug-in) only looks at three indicators: red, yellow, or green. So with the use of Rank Math you have a better handle to know if you’re post is more optimized to get better traffic.
And with the introduction of Rank Math’s new Content AI (a program similar to CanIRank) that will examine your post and give you suggestions to improve your SEO score. The free version of Rank Math comes with 5 credits. If you upgrade to Rank Math Pro, the number of credits (per year) is 15 credits. And if you run out of credits, you’re able to buy more.
If you’d still like to know more about RankMath SEO before you decide to purchase it, please read my post called #1 Best SEO Tool Rank Math SEO and then please come back here to purchase it by clicking on the affiliate image above which will take you to the RankMath SEO plug-in site.
If you’re serious about wanting to get #1 posts on Google this is a must have tool and RankMath Pro plug-in allows you to easily track the ranking position of your keywords.
b. SEMRush: I wrote a post that compares SEMRush to Ahrefs and I was surprised that SEMRush had a slight edge over Ahrefs. Either one of these tools (SEMRush or Ahrefs) is a good SEO tool. And you can get both of them for free.
c. Ahrefs Webmaster Tools: The version of Ahrefs you can’t get for free; however, there’s an alternative that is pretty similar and exclusive to website owners. For more details on the advantages and how to use the free version of Free Ahrefs to improve your SEO I’ve written a post that I examined how you can use the free alternative to get just as good results from Ahrefs in their free alternative program called Ahrefs Webmaster tools. That way you’re saving yourself a bunch of money but getting some of the main benefits that Ahrefs a leading SEO report has to provide for your site’s SEO overview and for free.
The information that you get is the same as from Ahrefs but at a free cost! In that SEO Ahrefs tutorial I’ll show you snapshots of each of the applicable tools so you can see what they have to offer and then you can pull down the same applicable report for your website.
d. CanIRank: CanIRank is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program that looks at the content of your post and gives you recommendations to help rank your post. With the aide of CanIRank and Holistic SEO principles I’ve been able to have at least 20 of my posts rank as #1 in Google.
I hope that you’ve liked this post and that you find at least one helpful suggestion from these 5 elements to promote your blog’s growth.
