I don’t talk too much about affiliate training (under the heading how to Monetize your Blog) because I myself am still trying to master that aspect of blogging. I’ve got the mechanisms in place; however, the affiliate links that I have are not converting into a profit for me to put into my pocket. I’m getting out of my shell to learn new ways to expand my affiliate marketing with a program called Wealthy Affiliates. It takes time and hard work to monetize your blog and one of the biggest hurdles is the patience for others to see how you are helping them achieve their goals. At PinArtwork, I like to give you a lot of the tools, tips, and suggestions for you to Start your Blog, Grow your Blog, and Monetize it.
I like to accomplish this by creating content for my blog and adding Star Trek pins for TOS and TNG (which will nearly take me out for another 6 months or so before I look at another avenue of pins to make that people like).
They have a world-class training program that virtually outlines every step that bloggers need to be doing if they want to have a “profitable” blog. I wouldn’t recommend building your blog on their website or transferring your site to theirs. Where Wealthy Affiliate comes in handy is to provide you with the tips, tools, and suggestions so that you can monetize your own site.
There are similar Affiliate Marketing courses that cost $197. If you compare Wealthy Affiliates (WA) to these other training courses, WA offers the first lesson out of five available levels to you for free. If you’d like to continue with the rest of the training, it’ll cost $19 for the first month, and then it raises to $49/mo. thereafter.
Their training consists a lot of training materials for you to read, look at an occasional video, and then when you’re done with the selected tasks to mark them off as completed (or come back to them later for completion).
They don’t provide you with a long-laundry list of companies that offer affiliate links but they do have about four or five. Here’s a post that I wrote that does provide many different affiliate links (44) for you to join – 44 Affiliate Links to Monetize your Blog.
Here’s a sample of the checklist lesson plan (for their Introductory lesson called Getting Rolling!). The rest of the lessons have this same format.
If you are a new blogger or a blogger that has been struggling with how to make money for your blog, I highly encourage you to take a look into as least looking at their free Wealthy Affiliates Course, and then if you like the format of the training to complete the $19 training at a fraction of a cost for other Affiliate Training Programs.
In a nutshell, (like my website (PinArtwork) has been setup) they offer success to you through a 4-step plan of:
- Choosing an interest (your “niche)
- Building your website – (How to Start a Blog)
- Attracting visitors and (How to Grow a Blog)
- Earning Revenue (this is the one that most people are probably interested in studying). (How to Monetize your Blog).
If you are a Pinterest user one of the training plans is to share your Pinterest board and ask others to follow your boards (as well as following theirs). This is a very good way to grow your Pinterest users.
Another good training plan that I really liked was to ask other people to critique your website.
- My wife and I really enjoy being online marketers. We started as amateurs knowing nothing about starting an online business. We found WA by accident and never have regretted our decision in becoming a premium member.
The training, weekly Webinars, and access to the open chat with others in the WA community has helped us tremendously.
- The TRAINING hands down!! Teach a man to fish and he can feed himself. And WA does this like a BOSS!!! My mind has exploded with a number of possibilities
I’ve been blogging for close to 10 months and I’ve seen a lot of pins, taken a lot of courses, and reviewed (not written a lot of posts though) about a lot of different ways for your blog to get monetized. I’m thoroughly impressed with the training materials in the Wealthy Affiliates course because they’ve condensed all of the information that has taken me all this time to get under my belt and now, you’ll have it available to you in a fraction of the time that it has taken me to gather all of this information.
At the present time, I’ve finished all of the five lesson plans and I’m moving on to a course that the have (included in your Premium course for $19.00) that is an Affiliate Bootcamp training course. I have just scratched the surface for this lesson plan so I can’t tell you much about it other than I can’t wait to get to the end of the program to see what new material I can learn.
As a new member at Wealthy Affiliates, you should check out the Online Entrepreneur Certification getting started course (Level 1). It’s a task-based course that will get you taking action on daily tasks that’ll lead to you building web assets.
