At PinArtwork, I’ll provide you with suggestions, tips, and ways for new bloggers on how to start blogging and how to start a blog and make money. My blog is principally blogging for beginners with all the wealth of information I have on my blog, you’re likely to find everything you need.
PinArtwork: The purpose of Top 10 SEO Tips to get ranked 1 on Google is to showcase an Infographic with the the Top 10 SEO Tips to get ranked #1 on Google and a few images that I made in the process of creating the Infographic. By following the tips within this post you’ll be able to rank higher in Google.
Writing a blog post is only half of your marketing strategy, unless you promote it on social media, it’s not going to get noticed and won’t get any traffic. The suggestions within this blog post are the different methods to promote your blog, get it noticed, increase your blog’s traffic, and increase your page views.
First off one of the things that you need to know is that there’s not a Golden rule in blogging that pertains to each and every blog.
Ultimately you need to find out the different techniques that bloggers are using and find out what will work best for you by implementing the various suggestions that you find from within this post and if necessary, providing some fine tuning now and then or change it back to the way that it was before. Therefore, it’s necessary to keep a mental note of the things that you’ve changed so you can get your blog noticed.
One of the first things you’ll need to do is to do a little homework assignment that involves what are the reasons that “you” want your Blog to get noticed and why do you want to grow your blog’s traffic. The reason behind this is for you to determine your blog’s priorities and where you’ll need to place your efforts.
Let me share with you the reasons that are particular to my blog to get noticed and more traffic. First and foremost, this is my mission statement for PinArtwork:
Improving the world by helping Pinterest users to start a blog, grow their blog, monetize it,
and providing general information for the social platform of Pinterest.
- I like to help people with blogging and/or Pinterest.
- I’d like to have more subscribers to my blog posts.
- It’d be nice to convert affiliate clicks into sales.
- I’d like to have more people enroll in my Free Blogging Mini-Course
- I like to see the Social Shares grow for my blog posts
Once you developed the laundry list of reasons for your blog, first and foremost your efforts should be focused on the items that will get your blog noticed. Don’t spend a lot of time trying to “guess” what works, that’s going to be a waste of your precious time.
As a blogger you probably already know that there’s a lot of things that need to get done and many more things that you’ve got on the back-burner but haven’t gotten around to finishing yet. Time is precious to a blogger so don’t waste it on guessing. In this post, I’m taking the guesswork out of the equation, so you’re informed as to the things that do work to get your blog noticed and to build your blog’s traffic.
Are you ready to learn how to get traffic to your new blog?
Blogging is a long-term commitment. For the best results you should plan on writing at least one good quality post at least once a week. To see the results that you might be expecting it’s going to require content, content, content. Writing continual content is going to be a critical component to ensure that your blog gets noticed and will increase your page views.
Content is one of the four pillars that are used to improve your SEO. For more details regarding the pillars, please read the post that I wrote called “What are the four pillars of SEO” and see how they can improve your SEO.

Update 11/22/2021: According to Matthew Woodward an SEO expert, he recommends that you write at least two high-quality 2,500 word posts at least twice per month to increase your traffic by as much as 12 fold.
For a new blogger, I’d suggest writing a minimum of at least 60 good quality blog posts and concentrating on your SEO site’s structure. I’m a big fan of using Yoast SEO. Using Yoast SEO all by itself is not going to raise your SEO. There are many factors associated with using SEO and I’ve highlighted most of them in an 11-part blogging series to bring most of the factors all together.
I used Yoast SEO Premium for more than a year. But for the best results as indicated in the Infographic at the top of this post you should consider switching your SEO plug-in (if you haven’t already) over to using Rank Math SEO (either the free version or the paid version).
If you’d like to grow your blog you can my Blog Planner for $15.00 and I have an even better deal that if you subscribe to my blog PinArtwork, every one of the items (except How to Make a Tripwire) are in my Free Blogging Mini Course. So I hope you don’t turn an opportunity to get this free gift to begin starting your blog or growing it (if it already exists).
Before I forget I’d like to invite you to my Facebook Group called PinArtwork. I truly hope that if you like this post, you’ll consider joining my Facebook Group. Thank You.
I have a habit of rambling so let me cut this short so let’s at the best ways to get your blog noticed and you’ll want to take some notes so that you can be prepared to start putting some of these strategies into place on your blog.
The image below is from one of my old posts that I like to call Show me the Money and the actual name of the title is: A visionary image to monetize your blog.

I like this image because it portrays every step from the inception of the idea of your website to monetizing it for profit. I’m going ensure that I highlight at least one aspect from all these elements. Since I cater to “New” bloggers and “Intermediate” bloggers, this will have all of the steps. Intermediate bloggers can skip to the part that they are trying to focus on.
If you’re looking for ways on how you can make money for your blog there’s a good post on PinArtwork: It discusses how to make a Tripwire for your blog. A tripwire is a super discounted offer that is given after someone opts-in for one of your freebies or content upgrades. The offer is usually a one-time-offer that can only be accessed on that page or is a timed offer that is only normally available for 15 – 30 minutes.
Longer explanation of a Tripwire: The way that it normally works is that you go to a blog. You see something that attracts your attention called a Freebie. It’s usually in the form of free templates, a checklist, a Free Online Course, etc. The point is that it’s something of value to you.
You click on the first button and then in the background your product will be available for you to download, unless you need to confirm with a valid e-mail address. So now a second screen will pop-up. This is the 2nd chance offer to provided something with more of an intrinsic value than the first item you selected. Sometimes you have to make your choice before the timer expires and the offer will expire.
In the How to make a Tripwire for your blog post, I’ll provide step-by-step instructions to set up a tripwire for your own business (except for the payment plug-in).
Note: The first few steps until we reach Optimizing your posts for Search Engines (SEO) pertain to “New” bloggers.
Idea
You’ve come up with an idea and you want to start your Blog. Congratulations this is going to be a wonderful journey and if you want to be a blogger it’s a lot of fun as well as you’ll have a lot to learn.
Before you move to the next step of choosing your domain you need to decide what is your niche. This is important because it allows you to focus your expertise in a certain area.
My Free Blogging Mini-Course covers this topic a lot more in depth if you want to know more about how to select your niche.
You necessarily don’t have to promote your blog one certain way or another, but I highly recommend promoting your blog with principally Pinterest first and then as a backup social media, Facebook. Regardless of which social media you decide to use, you should try to master one or the other of the two social media platforms to promote your blog.
Pre-planning for your Blog – your Niche!
Before you start and set up your domain you need to determine a few things, like thinking of your Blog’s niche and its name.
☐ Define the broad niche. Pick something that really interests you that you can write countless posts on and are excited writing about.
☐ Narrow down your niche and focus more specifically on what you’re going to be blogging about.
☐ Research other blogs to develop your perfect blog niche. Take the opportunity to learn from other bloggers. For example, here’s a list of 40 Bloggers that you can benefit from to help grow your blog.
☐ It really helps if you develop SMARTER goals for your blog. See SMART goals for your blog.
Domain
The domain name that you choose is irreversible. Once you’ve purchased it, it’s hard to go back. This will be one of the most important steps in your blogging journey. When choosing your domain name, try to keep the name, brief, short, simple, and easy to remember.
For details on how to set up your domain, visit my blog post called: Creating a new website – adding a new domain or enroll in my Free Blogging Mini Course.
I highly recommend that if you’re a new blogger to check out Nameboy where you can get your blog for less than $3.00 per month.
Hosting your Blog
To be quite honest, to me registering your domain and hosting your blog are almost virtually the same thing. And in order to get hosting for your blog, you’ll need to have a registered domain name. Majority of the programs that offer domain services usually provide free hosting for your blog. Just be certain to read the fine print.
I highly suggest that if you’re a new blogger to learn the nuances of blogging first on Bluehost (to see if you like it and will want to continue or not).
If you decide to continue blogging, perhaps at the 5-to-6-month point, you can migrate your blog to a better service like SiteGround and there a little bit more expensive than Bluehost but provides better speed and much better customer service. For a small fee of $25.00 they’ll even offer to help migrate your blog from one host to another.
Installing your Blog
Depending on the host that you’ve selected WordPress will be automatically installed or you’ll need to do a one-time install. Once you’ve installed WordPress, you’re going to want to start installing your WordPress Plug-ins. After that, it’s a matter of starting to customize your website’s blog design.
Pro-Tip: If you get prompted to update your plug-ins, stay on top of that. It’s a way that if you don’t keep good control of them that a hacker can get into your website (if there’s outdated plug-ins).
Here’s the minimum recommended plug-ins that I suggest:
☐ If you are going to launch your blog right away, you need to install the plug-ins below (before) you launch your Blog and make it available for all to see.
☐ All in One SEO * ☐ Yoast SEO Plug-in (pick 1 of these 2 SEO Programs)
(I strongly recommend Yoast SEO)
☐ Akismet Anti-Spam ☐ Constant Contact ☐ Google Analytics
☐ Milo-Tree Pop-up ☐ PI Button ☐ Social Warfare
☐ ConvertKit (for e-mail) ☐ ShortPixel (for images optimization)
(not required if your using SiteGround)
Customizing your Blog Design
If you want to stand out and be known, be sure that you are using the right theme. Some themes are known that they can slow down your sites page speed.
Therefore, when selecting your theme look for one that is fast, has great SEO, and is visually pleasing. That’s the hard part, because what you see and what you actually want are not necessarily the same thing and it’ll take quite a while (i.e., 5 – 6 months) for you to perfect your website’s theme.
Don’t be afraid to try different themes. But if you do, be sure to back up your website with plug-ins that are available. SiteGround has a built-in backup program for all of your posts going back for 30 days.
If you don’t have a lot of experience, some themes will be able to customize your theme to the liking of your choice. You might have to shell out a few bucks if that pertains to you.
I’m not recommending one theme over another, because that’s a personal preference and in order to stand out you want to be different from the other bloggers.
What I would recommend though is if you don’t want to shell out big bucks to learn how to design your website to take the Do Six Figures Bootcamp Course. I learned a lot from that course that was jam packed full of information, especially the part that most courses don’t go into mentioning Website design.
Add Pages
Get Your Blog Noticed by offering Freebies
Freebies are one of the secrets to make your blog successful. Not only are you going to want to sell your products but in exchange you need to provide freebies that people want to use. The freebie can be used to entice them to buy another one of your products with a technique called a Tripwire.
Setting up a tripwire is not that hard, but it does require that the elements are setup in the right sequence, or the Tripwire won’t work. Here’s a link to one of my posts called: Ways to increase sales – make a Tripwire for your blog. This link provides you with a detailed checklist to make your first Tripwire and an offer (in the form of a Tripwire) to setup the hardest part which is your payment process.
By providing an ample array of free resources on your blog you’ll build a rapport of trust with your visitors.
You’re also going to want to install a few necessary pages on your blog that are common to many different blogs to include: About Me, Disclaimer Policy, Contact Me, Terms and Conditions Policy, and Guest Posts Policy (optional). These are easy to find, copy and paste by adding the term Generator to the end of your search (i.e., Disclaimer Policy Generator). Simply make the changes to the template and upload to your website.
Optimize for Search Engines (SEO)
Using the Right Keywords for Ranking
It makes it so much easier to optimize your posts with Rank Math. Here are more posts to help improve your SEO.

A program that has really turned my life around as a blogger is KeySearch. If you enter the coupon code of KSDISC you’ll get a 20% discount applied to your purchase.
Focus on On-Page SEO
One of the most important things you can learn as a blogger is knowing you and where to place your keywords for the most traffic. So it’s imperative that you learn how to use On-Page SEO strategies that are in the 11-part blogging series mentioned above.
As a matter of fact between social media traffic and SEO, the choice of the two comes down to that SEO will drive more traffic to your blog in the long run. So that’s where your energy needs to be focused.
Because writing your posts is an art to get them to rank higher in Google SERP rankings.
One last point about On-Page SEO is that having it means you’ll be able to turn your blog into a profit that much faster because of the traffic that it will generate.
Get Your Blog Noticed by Improving Your Domain Authority (DA)
What is your current Domain Authority? To check yours for free, go to the Moz free resource located to the left.
What is Domain Authority?
Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs).
The DA scores range from 0 to 100. The higher, the better because you have more chances of ranking higher on Google with a higher DA.
The ideal thing is for people to naturally want to link to your blog and provide backlinks.
It doesn’t happen overnight, and it takes quite awhile to build an improved DA. I’ve been blogging for 16 months and mine is only a 9. But don’t get too caught up in improving your DA. Because if you continue to write good blog content, your DA will slowly improve over time.
One of the industry leaders when it comes to SEO and Domain Authority is Neil Patel. He has article called: how to boost your Domain Authority by 5 points in 2 Weeks.
I’ve written a post called: 20 Best Methods how to Increase your Domain Authority Score that will help you to learn more about improving your Domain Authority Score.
Monetize your Blog
(skip down to the part called Make Money)
Publish Content
Be Consistent with Your Blog Content Creation
My number one tip for getting your blog noticed is to be consistent when creating content.
Content is king and you want to pump out quality content as consistent as you can. Preferably at least one quality blog post per week. You don’t have to be creating content all of the time, the key is sticking to a “consistent” schedule.
Doing this is one of the best ways on how to get your blog noticed by Google when it indexes your website. Writing content often and consistently ensures that Google will crawl your site more often for you to get noticed.
As I mentioned earlier it’s extremely important for you to learn how to use the proper keywords in your posts. Not using them properly can affect your ranking. The most important step in Holistic SEO is actually learning about keyword research.

Drive Traffic
Improve your E.A.T. for Rankings
E-A-T stands for “Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness.
- Expertise – As you know, whatever you blog about, you need to ensure that you are an expert in that field. This can be done by showing your skills when you create content as well as mentioning that within your content. Most sites can show expertise if the content is truthful and useful for readers.
- Authoritativeness – You will also need to show that you are an authority in your niche. This is usually established with your writing, but joining a community page or forum and sharing your expertise in a good way. You can also do a couple of expert roundup posts on your blog to show authority on a topic. Sharing your credentials as well as personal experience is also very important.
- Trustworthiness – Another way to improve your chances of having Google trust you is to show your readers that they can trust you and your content. This is really important especially if you sell things on your blog whether it is physical or digital products. This is because they are entering sensitive information such as credit cards. You want people to feel safe when they land on your blog. Definitely have an SSL certificate on your site to start! Call your host provided and sometimes they’ll even do it for you for free.
If your website is not reflecting any E.A.T signals, make sure to work on it. Google has stated that they take E-A-T into considerations when grading a Page’s quality. So be sure to read more on E.A.T! and do some more research on it.
Google has recently introduced this concept to stress the fact that websites that rank high in their search results need to have a good reputation.
In simple terms, this means that Google is trying to rank websites that are proven to have authority and expertise about a topic and websites that are trusted by users.
Beautify your content (with formatting and styling) and make it easy to read
Throwing text and images on a page it’s not the way to design a page that is to be eligible for ranking on Google.
You need to work on your formatting and styling and give users a nice experience. You don’t have to do something too fancy, just ensure that your pages are easy to read on all devices.
Don’t use fonts that are too small to read and make use of the available formatting elements to beautify your text.
Before you publish your posts/pages do a cursory preview to check for spelling, punctuation, grammar, formatting of your posts (too much space between paragraphs), links are working or not there, etc.
Occasionally it may be easier in WordPress to delete a huge check of info which can be done with the code editor. This is available through using the Jetpack plug-in and comes in very useful at times. Because WordPress uses blocks it can be tedious to delete a whole bunch of information that has to be done one block at a time.
Signs of a professional website is that it’s free of grammar and spelling mistakes. A very good program that I highly recommend to “new” bloggers and you can get it for free is Grammarly.
Write a Guest Blog Post
Writing a guest post won’t increase your blog traffic; however, it is a good way to build your authority and it’s one of the best ways to get your blog noticed by writing a guest post).
The overall goal for doing guest blog post will be to build your blog’s brand, get noticed, establish authority, and to get noticed.
But you also want to ensure that the guest posts that you provide have a higher DA than yours and but are also in the same or a related niche.
One thing you can also do to stand out and look professional is to have a guest post policy. I don’t mind at all if you decide to copy and paste mine but be sure to change the wording then to your website obviously.
Turn your readers into repeat readers
An amazing way to turn your current readers into repeat readers and eventually convert them into buyers is to grow your email list.
Periodically, send them valuable information and send them some of your affiliate products.
To turn your visitors into subscribers, please read one of my posts called: How to get your first 1,000 e-mail Subscribers or 20 Simple ways to get “new” Subscribers – Day 10. In the latter post, it’s a ten-part blog series where I talked about different ways every day to get new subscribers.
Share your content frequently
This requires that you need to be ready and prepared to promote your blog. Use the 20/80 rule:
- 20% – creating consistent content
- 80% – promoting your blog on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, or other social media.
I use Tailwind to promote my Pinterest pins. My personal preference for using Tailwind is to primarily share the pins that have been repinned to other Tailwind Communities. If they’ve been repinned they have a better chance of getting repinned again on Tailwind.
Get mentioned in the press
One of the best ways to get your blog noticed is through H.A.R.O. It stands for Help A Reporter Out and it’s a media source for news people to find sources for their stories quickly (usually with a 1 or 2 day deadline). HARO connects journalists seeking expertise to include in their content with sources who have that expertise.
How to land quality backlinks to your Blog – Want to find high domain authority sites for backlinks? Then you need to try Help A Reporter Out (H.A.R.O.). Learn how to get backlinks for free for your blog. Also, find out why they are important to increase your Domain Authority score and will improve your SEO.
Get Your Blog Noticed on Pinterest
Pinterest is one of the reasons that I decided to start blogging in the first place. Because I wanted a mechanism to promote my Pinterest boards. One of the best ways for you to promote your Pinterest account is with a free Pinterest Business account. Being able to look at your Pinterest Analytics allows you to see what’s working and what’s not.
On my website, I’ve got approximately 80 blog posts written about Pinterest. Pinterest is my favorite way to promote my blog and with it I’ve been able to promote one of my blog posts with more than 10,000 Social Shares. You’ll see as soon as you look at my blog, it’s at the top of the list in the sidebar under Popular Posts. It’s a post that features Star Trek TOS pins.
If you’re completely new to Pinterest, here’s a post that will provide you with a Pinterest overview called: Pinterest Overview for new bloggers.
How can you ensure that your blog gets noticed on Pinterest?
- Ensure you pin consistently
- Make sure you create pin-worthy images
- Create multiple pins for your blog
- Pinterest likes fresh pins (repin less, create fresh pins)
- Have a Pinterest Marketing Strategy – I usually pin at least 10 new pins once per week. And in addition, repin 5 pins from Tailwind every day.
This post will get your Pinterest pointed in the right direction: The Best way to use Pinterest Marketing.
Share Your Blog on Social Media
They are so many amazing social media platforms you can use to promote your blog, but I suggest mastering 1 or 2 social media platforms first.
Social media takes a lot of time and by focusing on one at a time, you’ll give yourself a better opportunity to get noticed effortlessly.
You want to go where your audience hangs out. You can find that out by having a Google Analytics account.
Share Other People’s Work
If you want to get your blog noticed especially by huge bloggers and publications, be sure to share their content frequently on Pinterest.
This will help to boost authority in your niche and give other influencers a chance to notice you as well.
Ensure that when visitors land on your blog that you have plenty of good quality posts and a great About Me page.
When you make your external links, don’t hesitate to link to authoritative sites in your blog posts. It’s a great way for your blog to get noticed.
Craft Great Headlines if You Want to Get Noticed on Google
To have your Blog stand out and get noticed, you need to make sure your headline titles are as catchy as possible.
I highly recommend Google Analytics by Monster Insights which includes another free feature built into it called the Headline Analyzer. With the Headline Analyzer you can look at the likelihood of getting people to click on your titles.
Get Your Blog Noticed by Writing Epic Content
I wrote a post called: Using Content in your Keyword Research. It goes quite in depth to Keyword research, specifically looking at Content. In that post, I looked at two terms that are closely related called Search intent and content intent and the post also looks at using cornerstone content and product pages.
Your goal should be to create helpful content for people that they’ll want to read over and over again. The best kind of content you can write is to identify a problem and then provide the solution to that problem. That will end up with you getting readers to follow your blog.
If you want to boost your blog traffic you may need this. As I mentioned earlier if you enroll in my Free Blogging Mini-Course, you’ll get all of this for free.
Comment on other Blogs
Comment in Facebook Groups or Blog Comments: By answering questions that people have on Facebook Groups allows you exposure to show your expertise and knowledge. In some instances, you can also add a link to your post (but be sure to check out the Facebook rules so that you don’t get blocked on Facebook). Make sure that your comments are meaningful. For suggestions on how to effectively write comments, visit the post: 11 Easy ways to build backlinks and 7 useful ways to improve comments on your blog.
Pro-Tip: If you leave a comment on a blog be sure to use your first name and the name of your blog: for example, Scott | PinArtwork. That way you’re leaving a natural link to your website and hopefully it doesn’t get marked as spam.
One last piece of advice is to try and stick your comments to blogs that are within your own niche so that Google doesn’t penalize you and considering you to be spammy.
Keep Your Blog Simple
If you’ve ever heard the expression Keep it Simple that applies to your blog layout too.
Your big money-making blogs if you take a close look are very simplistic and don’t have a lot of glamor to them. They get right down to the basics and get straight to the point. Don’t put too many things on your blog that they become distracting. For example, at one time I had a list of categories in my sidebar that was taking up considerable room. So I put my categories into the homepage spread throughout it.
Here are a few suggestions to get your blog noticed and keeping it simple:
- Not too many widgets in your sidebar
- Limit (if possible) the number of pages/posts displayed so it’s not a high number, maybe the Top 5 posts instead of the Top 10 posts. You can always put your Top 10 posts on your home page so that they don’t take up the valuable space in your sidebar.
- Don’t overdo having too many affiliate links on one post.
- Don’t have too many pop-ups on your website. One that I highly recommend though is Milo-Tree Pop-up to guide people to your Pinterest boards.
- Don’t provide so many distractions that they won’t sign up to your blog because they entirely missed the opportunity to sign up in the first place because of having too many distractions.
I suggest using all the suggestions on getting your blog noticed by:
- Simply creating epic content
- Promoting it on social media
- And building easy backlink opportunities.
Make Money
I would like to note that this post and most posts on my blog contain affiliate links. This means that if you purchase something that has an affiliate link, I’ll get a commission from it. Not all items recommended on my website are affiliate links. For the most part, I only recommend items that I’ve used and tried. These items I highly recommend for your blog to be successful. Thank you for your trust!
If your blog is not making money, you’ll want to head over to LadiesMakeMoney.com and sign up for their free 12 things to do when your blog is not making money.
