I was looking around on the Internet for my next SEO blog post to write and this post, easy link building opportunities in 3 minutes was created when I came across one of Neil Patel’s videos that he named, “These are the easiest link building opportunities.”
PinArtwork – Learn to Start blogging here at PinArtwork, including how to grow your blog with Pinterest and/or Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tools and plug-ins. At PinArtwork, I’ll provide you with suggestions, tips, and ways for new bloggers on how to start blogging and how to start a blog and make money. My blog is principally blogging for beginners but with all the wealth of information I have on my blog, you’re likely to find everything you need.
Then there’s also a clock to indicate that you can learn how to get these valuable linking opportunities to build your blog’s traffic in less than 3 minutes.
I’ve written a post called the Ultimate SEO Roadmap to Learning SEO and it’s already received more than 500 incoming links so this really caught my eye so that I could see if I could achieve a goal of doubling the number of incoming links to 1,000 and this would be a viable way to look at my competitors to see what they’re linking to.
PinArtwork: Ultimate SEO Roadmap to Learning SEO – “An SEO roadmap is a step-by-step plan for executing your SEO strategy. Think of it like this: the SEO strategy is the “what” and the “why”, whereas the SEO roadmap is the “how”. The two go hand in hand to create a highly actionable set of tasks that have a high likelihood of achieving your SEO goals.”
Since the Ultimate SEO Roadmap to Learning SEO was written in November of 2021 a realistic goal to achieve 1,000 incoming links has been set (by me) for February 23, 2022 which allows an extra 1 ½ months (the same amount of time it took to get the 1st 500 incoming links) to set this goal.
Easy Link Building Opportunities in 3 minutes
To get the full benefit of how to get easy link building opportunities in 3 minutes or less the best thing to do is to watch Neil’s video.
I love videos because you can learn a lot of information in a quick amount of time, but what they lack is the written word for you to trace how to do this or that, which eliminate the process steps for how to do something.
For that reason, I think the best thing to do is to give you a blow-by-blow detail of exactly what he says in the video so I’m going to do my best to create a video transcript (mostly) word-for-word (including a few screenshots here and there on the important stuff).
To distinguish what’s in the video from my comments, all of the items from the video transcript are in purple.
That way you won’t miss what he has to say, and you’ll be able to grow your blog with these link building opportunities by using his powerful program, Ubersuggest.
“There’s a new simple way to find backlinks and I’m going to teach it to you in less than five minutes. Hey everyone, I’m Neil Patel and today I’m going to breakdown how to find the easiest opportunities for link building in less than 3 minutes. 3 minutes?
Neil you’re like this is a really short video. Well, it’s short because there’s not much to .. and if you do this you’ll do well. …
So out of curiosity, how many of you use Ubersuggest? Let me know in the comments below. There’s this new report on Ubersuggest that makes backlinking super easy. It’s called Backlink Opportunities.
So, if you go to Ubersuggest and you type in your URL, on the left-hand navigation you can click on Backlink.

and then go to Backlink Opportunity (see below):

And what this report does is it shows you all the people that link to your competitor that don’t link to you. So, you’ll want to put in your URL and then put in three of your competitors.
So, if you don’t know who your competitors are, Google any of the terms that you rank for, and you’ll see your competitors and add the competitors to the backlink opportunity report.”
The Competitive Analysis will provide:
Find out how you stack against your competitors in search.
Find out which top competitors compete for your keywords.
- Common keywords – find out who your real competitors are
- Keywords gap – explore the keywords that your top competitors rank for
- Traffic over time – see how much search traffic each competitor receives
To get to the Competitor’s report, it’s called Competing Domains (under the Traffic tab).

Since I want to get backlinks for my SEO Roadmap post I’ll use that in this example. The term that I want to rank for is: “Ultimate roadmap to learning SEO”. Let’s take a very close look at the headings atop of the Competing domains report that was just generated for my competition, and we’ll look at the definition of each heading.

Competing Domains – A list of websites that rank for similar keywords against the website your analyzing.
Common Keywords – A list of keywords that the website your analyzing and it’s competition rank for.
Keywords Gap – A list of keywords that the competition ranks for but the website your analyzing doesn’t.
Estimated Traffic – The estimated traffic this web page gets from Google for this particular item.
Backlinks – How many incoming backlinks from other websites to this domain.
“If that doesn’t work for you, in Ubersuggest there’s a competitor’s report, put in your URL and it’ll show you all of the other people who rank for similar keywords or the same exact keywords to you, those are also competitors, and you can use that to put into backlink opportunities.”
Using the information from the Competing domains you can now enter three of the competing domains.
Before you pick the three competing domains that you need to enter to compare to yours, be sure to open up the 2nd tab called common keywords (see above) and look at the keywords that they are using to bring traffic to their site. And if they are in the same niche as you, perhaps you’ll be able to write a similar post.
The four competing domains that I’ve decided to initially enter were: marylumley.com, influencermarketinghub.com, lzea.com, and maythande.com. Or you could a random three of the competing domains at the top of the competing domains report.

This is where you need to type in the name of your domain and the 3 competing domains. Click the “+” sign at the end to add each of the competing domains. Once they are all in, click on the Search button.
The information being provided to you is Backlink Opportunity (your domain) and “Here are the websites that link to your competitors but not to your domain.”
You might have to play around and remove some of the domains and then add others until you get a wide spectrum of domains that are all sharing the same information. For example, even though I didn’t recognize these domains I entered them because they’re competing for the same keywords as me: influencermarketinghub.com, zadroweb.com, and cappuccinoandfashion.com.

“So, in the backlink’s opportunities report, this shows you who links to your competitors that doesn’t link to you.
If someone links to three, four, five of your competitors the chances are they will want to link to you too.
They don’t have any biases to one of your competitors, they link to multiple of them. So, they like them all. And if they like them all and if you hit them up and ask for a link. The chances are they will link to you as well.
Neil Patel
That’s why I love this report. now you just hit them up and say hey you linked to four, five of my competitors, link to me as well. People are going to ignore you but look at why they are linking to your competitors because that backlink opportunities report will show you the exact page they are linking to (see image above).
And if you see the type of contents they are linking to, go and create better content than that. Write that! Seriously, make it better than your competitor, make it more in-depth, make sure it solves all problems, has step by step instructions.
Maybe animated gifs helping to explain, infographics, add in some videos, and assuming the experience is better you’re not creating long content for the sake of it, you can hit that site up and show them how your content is better than the competition.
Explain to them how it’s going to benefit their readers more and ask them for a backlink and the chances are they will be willing to link to you. Assuming your content is better. That’s it! That’s all you need to do.
And if you do that at scale and you do that within your niche, you’ll generate more backlinks than your competition … It drives results!”
Conclusion
The purpose of this post is to provide you with the opportunities for you to easily build backlink opportunities. The more difficult part of getting backlinks is using personalized e-mails to contact your backlink opportunities.
