Prior to CanIRank to be completely honest, I didn’t even know there was such as thing as thematic content and that not all content is created equal.

I’ve been fortunate that without realizing it, I’ve actually been using the components that are within thematic content which I’ll explain in this post.
As a blogger, if you want to increase your traffic it’s absolutely necessary to keep providing original content to your visitors and continue to do that on an on-going basis. What that does is to promote a search presence for your brand and to bring you that much needed traffic to your blog. Providing consistent original content results in a direct correlation to more traffic to your blog.
But there might come a time that your traffic, your lack of links, or you’re not using good links is not creating conversions for you (in the form of sales, subscribing to your blog, copy your contextual link to their applicable post/topic, etc.). Virtually the thing that you want your reader to accomplish after they read your post.
In this post, I’ll be discussing how you can put a stop to that and start seeing a ROI for your marketing efforts. Creating Thematic Content is one of the simplest ways to increase blog traffic.

I looked at a post that was written by CanIRank on the topic of Thematic Content called How Thematic Content Can Save Your Website so I could learn for myself why it’s advantageous to be using Thematic Content.
CanIRank is very helpful to address where do I rank with your WordPress posts. It’ll provide keyword research tips and other search optimization techniques to improve your overall SEO.
If you’re interested in learning what operational content means, you can look at the referenced post right above, but I didn’t get any benefit out of looking at the definition of it, so I figure maybe you won’t get any benefit out of it either. However, the same can be said with thematic content, I’ll get to that in a second but first, this quick announcement! Oops! I did it again.
Oops, I got ahead of myself (as I have a tendency to do sometimes, you do need to know about operational content to a small degree because even though content on a site can be categorized as either operational or thematic, your customers (and especially the search engines) need to see both.
The folks at CanIRank recommend that an obvious thing to do is that we’re going to be striving to continually provide great content on our sites. But what might strike you is as odd is that when we are in the process of creating content you should be focusing on (and I can’t think of any other way to say it, so I’ll call it what it is) “the true function of on-site content.”
One of the very first steps when you look at your website’s content (to optimize it) is to break it down so that you know how it’s going to be used by your users (your visitors) and how it’s going to be used by the search engines. Optimizing your post is one of the very first steps for how to improve your SEO on WordPress and I highly recommend that you use Rank Math SEO for this feature. Not only will your SEO score on WordPress improve as you look for opportunities to continually update your posts, but you’ll find other internal link building opportunities that will improve your overall SEO site’s structure.
Difference between operational and thematic content
In this post, I’m going to briefly explain the difference between operational and thematic content. The “main” emphasis will be looking at thematic content,
On any given site, content can be categorized as either operational or thematic.
As I stated earlier, I didn’t like the definition of operational content that was provided on the CanIRank post so I’m going to look and see if I can find another definition that makes more sense to us.
Content operations is the set of processes, people, and technologies needed for strategically planning, creating, managing, and analyzing all content types for all channels across an enterprise.
CanIRank however did a good job of explaining that the operational content is the vital information that you would need if you wanted to hire someone.
I found a better place that really helped me to more fully understand the importance of contents operations and it explains in detail. If I were to cover this material it would be very exhaustive because it deals with many factors. Perhaps this would make a good post for later.

- Measuring, ??, & retiring. (I can’t make out the middle word, just yet, it shows up again in the video).
That slightly makes the mud a little easier to see through (you still with me?).
If you’ve looked at the above video, perhaps you’re getting the picture on content operations. The information below should bring Thematic Content closer to home so it’s easier to digest.

What is Thematic Content?
As I alluded to earlier, thematic content is a whole another ballgame!
There wasn’t a thematic content definition that I could readily find, other than this one that sums it best and refers to thematic relevance.
“Thematic Relevance is a tricky concept, but hopefully this example will help you follow along. When your pages are tied together with specific, targeted keywords, it establishes a theme throughout the site that makes your site as a whole appear more relevant to those search terms.”
If you’ve been wondering how to get traffic to your blog or how to have more traffic on your blog, I highly suggest that you use a plug-in called Internal Link Juicer. It automatically builds internal links once you’ve entered the selective keywords in your posts. This is a good practice derived from SEO Content Strategy.
If this definition isn’t good enough, here’s the definition from CanIRank on Thematic Content that was referenced at the top of this post. So there relatively the same thing, looking at an SEO goldmine comprised from targeting your keywords, building backlinks, and demonstrating your value to your users.
“Thematic content represents the meat of your site, including product and service descriptions, ratings and reviews, case studies and explanations of your business’ practices. Such content represents a potential SEO goldmine, prime for targeting keywords, building backlinks and demonstrating value to your visitors… Thematic content is the go-to strategy … to drive sales and traffic.”
I was very hard pressed to find more information on thematic content that I decided to switch it up a little bit and focus a little more on the root of thematic which means “concerned with the subject or theme of something, or with themes and topics in general.” If you look at the two words together then thematic content is literally looking at the subject or theme of how content is used. Although you’re probably not going to be able to find too much information on this topic other than the few sources I’ve already provided that most of them focus on thematic content analysis which is an entirely different topic.
If you’re lacking on one of two things, traffic or domain authority, thematic content can be extremely helpful to give you a boost and more than likely you’re lacking in using thematic content on your site (as described above).

This new way of creating content will take some time to get used to using. But in the long run it’s going to have a lot of benefits that will help establish your website’s authority and expertise.
