10 Free Link Building Tools in 2022
~ is a free online web-site validator / integrity checker / problem detection tool that can check your web-pages for dead links, validate, find, and report broken hyperlinks if any are found on your website.
It’s not a tool to “build” links, it’s a tool that’s necessary to repair broken, outdated, obsolete links.
One of the things I like about this feature is the ability to go directly to the source within the URL so you can make the necessary changes to your URL that’s been broken.
Note: This can take an exceptionally long time for the program to go through all of your web pages to find broken links. An incredibly long-long time. So while it’s running you could take the time to find the links and fix them while the report is still running and then run it a 2nd time if you’d like to see if you caught all of the broken links.
The reason I suggest running a 2nd time is that after fixing all of my identified 124 broken links, new ones showed up in the 2nd go around that weren’t in the first report.
Running this program, I was able to find a total of xx broken links (404 errors) that I don’t want my users to experience while navigating my site. Those things are bothersome and can ruin a user’s experience on your blog very quickly if they run into too many. If they do, they might bounce really quickly.
One of the most important reasons that you need to fix your broken links are that they can negatively impact your website’s ranking with search engines.
It’s daunting to fix all of those broken links because over time your internal links can very easily become obsolete because where they point to are no longer valid links. It doesn’t mean that you need to remove all of your old material but at least update the broken link.
The practice that I’ve adopted is to make a note that the link has been removed, because it’s a broken link. That will save your visitors the time and trouble from looking it up.
What I benefitted from this program is that it identified 124 broken links on my site that needed to be addressed.
Included in the free plan (for BuzzSumo) are:
- 10 searches
- Unlimited Projects and saved items
- 1 Custom Trending Feed
To tell you the truth I haven’t used this program hardly at all, so I’m going to learn how to use it, here’s a screenshot that will give you an “idea” of how you’ll be able to utilize the program by discovering popular content, looking for new ideas, or building link opportunities.
One of the prominent features that really stands out is exploring top ranking content in SERPs for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions. You can scroll through some of the section headings within each of these areas. I did a search for Cruella just to see what would show up for one of my upcoming blog posts.
I’ve been using this marketing program CanIRank for the last few weeks to promote my blog posts. Just to give you an idea on how it’s improved my website, PinArtwork, I’m providing you with a screenshot to demonstrate how it’s improved my rankings for keywords.
This is not a WordPress plug-in that I personally use, but it might be one for you to look at to see if you like it. One of the things that I noticed about this plug-in is that it allows you to look at your links to see if they’re broken. I couldn’t tell from the screenshots on how it detects broken links, but it’s worth taking a peek.
Hunter.IO is for contact info. This cool program will allow you to easily find a companies e-mail address. You’re able to get at least 25 free e-mail searches per month. This is a easy way to gather e-mail addresses for sites that don’t have any e-mail contact info.
This plug-in finds opportunities for places for you to put your internal links. However, it doesn’t automatically put the links in the suggested places, it merely provides you with the posts that are opportunities for you to place your links. It says that having too many links is a bad thing which brings me to my next plug-in that does build automatic links called Internal Link Juicer.
My only advice with this plug-in is that you don’t want to have too many links (as mentioned above). For example, I put in my homepage (PinArtwork) and it created more than 400 linking opportunities which I felt was way too many, so proceed with some caution when setting up your target keywords that you want to link. This one for the most part builds your links automatically.
I’ve used this plug-in in the past, but I didn’t like the way that it changed my view of links that are very easy to see with Rank Math. Other than that, it’s a useful feature to look at potential linking opportunities.
SEMRush allows you to do so many things for free and all from one platform. You can still do a few things without getting the expensive monthly frills packages. Here I’ll outline a few of the things that you should check out for free on SEMRush:
The first thing that you’re going to want to check out is the SEMRush Dashboard pictured below:
Some of the key things to point out is that SEMRush uses what they call an Authority Score (very much like a Domain Authority Score, except it’s their unique DA product). In addition to providing an SEO grade of your site, it also provides you with position ranking for your keywords.
Scroll further down the report and you’ll see a traffic analysis report in the upper-left hand corner for your website and in the lower-right hand corner is an all important layout for the number of referring domains by (their) authority score. This is helpful because the higher referrals you get, it improves your overall Domain Authority (DA) score that’s measured by Moz.
The next thing you’ll want to check out is under Competitive Research, click on the first tab called Domain Overview and type in your website’s URL. Once you’ve done that let me direct your attention to the bottom right hand corner where you’ll “easily” be able to see some of your main competition. You can use these competitive blogs to your advantage by looking at what keywords they use for their website. Because they are competing for the same keywords that you’ve been writing about.
For keyword research: If you don’t have a professional keyword research program, under keyword research, select Keyword Overview.
This will give you a rather good inclination as to whether or not you should use a specific keyword or not based on looking at the volume, keyword difficulty, the results, or the Trend.
Under Link Building, select Link Building Tool to provide you with ample opportunities for places that might link to your website. From there you can go through the list to select the items that you want to target and move them to in progress so you can look at all of your link opportunities in one fail swoop. This is probably one of the biggest advantages that you can take away from the free version of using SEMRush.
This is the keyword research program that I like to use best. There are a lot of very good utilities to use on this program. To get the most out of it, visit Neil Patel’s blog as he explains ways that you can several of his features to your advantage.
I hope that you’ve liked this post.
